We are shocked to learn of Mr. Marco Materazzi’s racist, obscene, threatening and criminal remarks at the World Cup Final, 9th July 2006, directed towards Mr Zinedine Zidane, the then, captain of the French Football team.
Indeed Mr. Materazzi’s comments were racially motivated abuse and a slur and slander on the entire Muslim population of the world.
The reported remarks are as follows:-
ZIDANE: (in Italian) “Stop pulling my shirt”
MATERAZZI: “Shut up f****r, you only get what you deserve”
ZIDANE: “Yeah sure…
MATERAZZI: “All of you deserve that, f*****g Muslims, terrorist b******s”
It is also reported that Mr Zidane’s mother, Malika, was referred to as “a whore”
(as reported in the ‘Daily Mirror’ newspaper dated 11th July 2006 pages 1, 8 and 9.)
We absolutely and utterly condemn such behaviour of Mr. Materazzi and demand the following action to be taken:-
1. Mr. Materazzi to offer an unreserved open and public apology to Mr Zidane, his family and all Muslims through the international media for the whole world to hear the apology.
2. Disciplinary action to be taken against Mr. Materazzi and for him to be banned from participating, on or off the pitch, at all football games FOR LIFE.
3. Institution of Criminal proceedings against Mr. Materazzi in the German Courts. This seems to be the appropriate jurisdiction as the offence occurred in Germany.
4. Mr. Materazzi to be prosecuted under Human Rights Law should he ever set foot in the United Kingdom.
5. Substantial damages to be awarded to Mr. Zidane for the defamatory remarks made about himself and his family which was witnessed by over a billion spectators on the broadcast media.
6. REPLAY OF THE WORLD CUP FINAL 2006, on the ground that Mr Materazzi’s remarks irreparably disrupted the game which was made by him calculated to do so , on the basis of which the game should be declared as a nullity. No action will mean Mr Materazzi’s success of his evil design.
