طفولتي بعيدة ... وكهولتي بعيدة ... ‏ ‏

وطني بعيد ... ومنفاي بعيد ‏ ‏

أيها السائح ‏ ‏

أعطني منظارك المقّرب ‏ ‏

علني ألمح يدًا أو محرمة في هذا الكون ‏ ‏

تومئ إليّ ‏ ‏

صورني وأنا أبكي ‏ ‏

وأنا أقعي بأسمالي أمام عتبة الفندق ‏ ‏

واكتب على قفا الصورة :‏ ‏

هذا شاعر من الشرق .‏ ‏

‏ ‏

‏ ‏

ضع منديلك الأبيض على الرصيف ‏ ‏

واجلس إلى جانبي تحت هذا المطر الحنون :‏ ‏

لأبوح لك بسر خطير : ‏ ‏

اصرف أدلاّءك ومرشديك ‏ ‏

وألق إلى الوحل .. إلى النار ‏ ‏

بكل ما كتبته من حواشٍ وانطباعات ‏ ‏

إن أي فلاّح عجوز ‏ ‏

يروي لك " ببيتين من العتابا " ‏ ‏

كل تاريخ الشرق ‏ ‏

وهو يدرج لفافته أمام خيمته .‏ ‏
