كان القصيبي يحوز احترام التقدميين في بلاده

أفاد تلفزيون "الاخبارية" السعودي أن الكاتب والدبلوماسي السعودي غازي القصيبي قد فارق الحياة في مدينة الرياض السعودية عن عمر يناهزالسبعين عاما.

وكان القصيبي قد نقل الى مستشفى الملك فيصل التخصصي قبل حوالي الشهر للعلاج من مضاعفات مرض السرطان.

وقد شغل القصيبي عدة مناصب حكومية حيث كان سفير السعودية في بريطانيا من عام 1992 الى 2002 عام حين أبعد عن هذا المنصب للصحة بسبب قصيدة اشاد فيها بالانتحارية الفلسطينية آيات الاخرس التي فجرت نفسها في سوق في القدس ما ادى الى مقتل اثنين من الاسرائيليين.

وكان القصيبي وزيرا للعمل حنى وفاته وهو من أبرز المسؤولين الذين عملوا على تطبيق سياسة منح الأولوية للسعوديين في التوظيف أو ما سمي بـ" سعودة الوظائف".

كما عمل سفيرا لبلاده في البحرين من عام 1984 الى 1992.

وتخرج القصيبي الذي ولد عام 1940 لعائلة ثرية من التجار من كلية الحقوق في جامعة القاهرة عام1961، ثم حصل على درجة الماجستير من جامعة جنوب كاليفورنيا والدكتوراه من جامعة لندن عام 1970.

ونشر القصيبي عشرات الكتب التي تتراوح بين الشعر والرواية والمقالات، ومنعت بعض مؤلفاته في بلده السعودية.

ويحوز القصيبي على احترام الإصلاحيين في بلده بسبب جرأته في تصوير مشاكل المجتمع السعودي.

ومن أكثر رواياته شهرة رواية بعنوان "شقة الحرية" التي صدرت عام 1996، التي تصور حياة أربعة طلاب بحرينيين في القاهرة.
