يا أخي العزيز:

اللغة وسيلة والوسيلة يجب أن تكون حادة لا باردة. تصور معي سكينة.. لو السكينة حادة لقامت بالهدف بشكل ممتاز ولكن لو السكينة باردة dull لتسببت في دمار وبهدلة..

We should be sharp in our use of the language and look for the best. If the knife is dull it causes more damage than good.

القضية مش قضية تابوهات أيها الأخ الغالي. القضية من نوع آخر. دي لغة ولك أن تتصور أني أعيش وسط ناس بالكاد أكملوا الثانوية العامة واستعمالهم للغة رديء جدًا وسقيم وتعيس جدًا.

كيف تفسر لي البنت جارتنا لو عايزة خدمة تقول لي:

can you get this?

طبعا لو هي متعلمة والتعليم أثر في شخصيتها ما تقولش سؤال زي ده وإنما بأدب واحترام تقول:

May you get this please?

شفت الفرق؟

والكتب أنواع أيها الأخ الكريم. فيه كتب تتعلم منها المحتوى وهذه كتب الفيزياء والكمبيوتر والرياضيات إلخ. ولكن هناك "لغة" و"أدب" و"إتيكيت". هل ستتعلم الإتيكيت من مجتمع تغلب عليه الـ.......؟ مش عايز أغلط. بس الإتيكيت تتعلمه من البريطانيين وليس من الأميركان وكذلك الأسلوب المهندم في الكلام. ألا تريد أن تكون مهندمًا في طريقة كلامك؟ بالتأكيد تريد ذلك والكلمة الحلوة أكيد بتعجبك وتلفت نظرك. أنا مش حنبلي في اللغة وغلطاتي في اللغة عامة أغزر من أني أحصيها بس مشان خاطر الله على رأي الشوام:
Let us speak right. Proper speaking does us a lot of good.
