(...) وكان ملك السعودية أعلن في خطاب متلفز "قررنا بعد التباحث مع علمائنا Unsure وغيرهم، قررنا مشاركة المرأة في مجلس الشورى عضوا اعتبارا من الدورة القادمة ووفق الضوابط الشرعية".

وأضاف "يحق للمرأة ان ترشح نفسها لعضوية المجالس البلدية من الدورة القادمة ولها الحق في المشاركة في ترشيح المرشحين وفق ضوابط الشرع" 12 في اشارة الى حق الاقتراع (...)

وكان الملك عبد الله قال في كلمته، بمناسبة بدء أعمال الدورة الجديدة لمجلس الشورى، إنه تم اتخاذ هذا القرار "لاننا نرفض تهميش دور المراة في المجتمع السعودي". Shocked2

وأضاف أنه تمت مشاورة "الكثير من العلماء السعوديين في هيئة كبار العلماء 10 ومن خارجها والذين استحسنوا هذا التوجه وايدوه".

وتمثل هذه الإصلاحات استجابة لمطالب المنادين بحقوق المرأة في السعودية. Dry
