رئيس الأركان الأمريكي يحذر «الكونجرس» من قطع العلاقات العسكرية والمساعدات لمصر

دعا رئيس هيئة الأركان الأمريكية المشتركة الجنرال مارتن ديمبسي الكونجرس الأمريكي إلى عدم قطع «المساعدات العسكرية» لمصر على خلفية إمكانية محاكمة مجموعة من الناشطين بينهم عدد من المواطنين الأمريكيين في قضية التمويل غير المشروع لمنظمات غير حكومية.

جاءت تصريحات ديمبسي خلال جلسة استماع عقدتها لجنة القوات المسلحة في مجلس الشيوخ الأمريكي.

وقال ديمبسي: "أنا مقتنع بأن المصريين لم يقيموا بشكل جيد تأثير قرارهم على علاقاتنا.. لكنهم فهموا موقفنا بشكل واضح بعد زيارتي إلى مصر.. وعلى أن أضيف أنني على علم بالمقترح الموجود في الكونجرس لقطع علاقاتنا العسكرية والمساعدات لمصر، ولكن تقييمي هو أن هذا سيكون خطأ".

يذكر أن ديمبسي حضر إلى القاهرة واجتماع مع المشير محمد حسين طنطاوي رئيس المجلس الأعلى للقوات المسلحة والفريق سامي عنان رئيس الأركان، وكانت الزيارة تهدف إلى الإفراج عن الأمريكيين المتهمين في قضايا التمويل الأجنبي الغير مشروع.

وفشل رئيس هيئة الأركان الأمريكية في التفاهم مع القاهرة بشأن الإفراج عن المحتجزين، والدليل على ذلك عدم عقد المؤتمر الصحفي الذي كان مقرراً بعد اللقاء، وهذا الأمر يعد سابقة في تاريخ مصر الحديث مما يؤكد حفاظ الجيش المصري على الثورة، ورغبته في استعادة دور مصر الريادي في المنطقة، وإعادة هيبتها على الصعيد الدولي ومنع اختراقها داخلياً بعد 30 عاما من فساد عصر مبارك.
