تمَّ اليوم وضع جثمان قداسة البابا شنودة الثالث بابا الإسكندرية وبطريرك الكرازة المرقسية فى كامل هيئته الكهنوتية على كرسى القديس مار مرقس فى الكاتدرائية المرقسية بالعباسية لإلقاء نظرة الوداع عليه.
وأقيم أول قداس صباح اليوم فى وجود الجثمان ورأس الصلاة الأنبا باخوميوس قائم مقام البطريرك فى حضور معظم اساقفة المجمع المقدس للكنيسة القبطية الارثوذوكسية.
وشهد حضور القداس أعدادًا غفيرة من الأقباط وغلبت الدموع والبكاء الحار أغلب الحاضرين، فيما دقت أجراس الكاتدرائية دقات جنائزية، وتم ترديد الألحان الكنسية الحزينة.
ويستمر بقاء الجثمان على كرسى البابوية يومين لإتاحة الفرصة أمام أكبر عدد من الأقباط وزوار مصر لإلقاء نظرة الوداع على جثمان البابا شنودة.
وكان البابا شنودة قد فارق الحياة مساء أمس عن 89 عامًا بعد معاناة طويلة مع المرض.
