It is perfectly normal you miss home and family. I would be sure to get some cheap calling cards and call them every now and then. Net too is an excellent cheap way of keeping in touch. Canada is a great country in that it is highly pluralistic. I would avoid all forms of argument and just seek to establish good friendly relations with everybody. As a matter of fact, I once heard that Canada wanted to implement some Islamic laws in the hope of catering for the Muslim population. In my opinion, it can't get better than that! I would get out and have fun and enjoy it while I have it. We never know what might become of us tomorrow.
