الثقفي , انفرد مسلم بروايته عنه وليس له غيره إلا حديث واحد , ولمسلم عن كعب
مثله في الاستفهام من أبي هريرة عن حديث الأمة التي فُقدت من بني إسرائيل
وكونها هي الفار .

وجملة القول أن جرح كعب لا يقتضي خسران شيء يذكر من العلم الذي في صحيح مسلم , ويوافق ما عند البخاري من إثبات معاوية لكذبه عنده وعند غيره؛ ولذلك امتنع البخاري عن الرواية عنه على غرور الجمهور بعبادته ، ومع هذا كله يجعل المنتقد ما زعمه من رواية البخاري عنه الركن الأعظم لتعديله , والخوف على ضياع السنة من جرحه فكلامه حجة عليه .
