على ذكر السعادة، البوذا سألوه ما هي النيرفانا؟

اجاب النيرفانا هي السعادة !

وكان البوذا يعتبر ان الخير هو الشيء الذي يجلب السعادة والشر هو الشيء الذي يجلب البؤس والتعاسة

ولكن المشكلة ان السعادة مفهوم نسبي، وهي غير منفصلة عن نقيضها التعاسة. فكل شيء يحوي نقيضه كما يخبرنا اية الله هيجل. ولايمكن فصل هذا عن ذاك.

فطلب السعادة يجلب معه التعاسة، وما نظنه يسعدنا سرعان ما ينقلب منغصاً مسيئاً فنشكو منه ونتمنى زواله.

أظن ان سعينا المتواصل ودأبنا لتحقيق ذاتنا هو هدفنا في الحياة، وهذا الهدف يجعل من الراحة هي غاية ما نطلب، ولا راحة مثل الموت، فلا تخافو من الموت، فالحياة كلها الم في الم وشقاء وعناء.
