Pan-Arabism was first pressed by Sharif Hussein ibn Ali, the Sharif of Mecca, who sought independence from the Ottoman Empire and the establishment of a unified state of Arabia. In 1915-16, the Hussein-McMahon Correspondence resulted in an agreement between the United Kingdom and the Sharif that if the Arabs successfully revolted against the Ottomans, the United Kingdom would support claims for Arab independence. لا أحد يريد فرض الهوية العربية بالقوة ... فالأمر وما فيه أن كل ذرة تراب بين المحيط والخليج تعج ثقافة عربية ولساناً عربياً منذ 1400 سنة. هذه هي الحقيقة دون رتوش. بعد هذا، من يريد أن يكون عربياً فأهلاً وسهلاً ومرحباً به، ومن أراد أن يبقى أعجمياً أو علجاً أو صقلبياً أو "بطيخ ممسمر" فله ما يريد، ولكنه مهما تنصل من ثقافته ومن لغته فلسوف يبقى فوق ثيابه الكثير من لامية الشنفرى وشعر حافظ ابراهيم.

هل تحدث أحمد عرابي ومصطفى كامل عن العروبة ؟
لا أعتقد، فهم كانوا مشغولين بأمور أخرى، ولكن هل تحدثوا عن "توت عنخ آمون"؟ لا أعتقد، ولكن عدم حديثهم عنه لا يعني أنه لم يكن موجوداً.
العروبة موجودة منذ أمد طويل. ولعل شاعر مثل المتنبي صورها أصدق تصوير في قصيدته "مغاني الشعب طيباً في المغاني" (لأستاذنا "أنيس المقدسي" مقال ضخم مشهور عن العروبة في شعر المتنبي). ولكن هل كانت فعلاً غير موجودة؟
الآثار العربية تقول أن العرب تحدثوا عنها كثيراً، خصوصاً في العصر العباسي. بل ان كاتباً مثل "الجاحظ" أعد كتاباً كاملاً عن "العصا" (الكتاب الثالث من "البيان والتبيين") رداً على "الشعوبية"، و"الشعوبية" هذه هي الحركة المعادية للعروبة في دولة الخلافة والتي جسدها في آدبنا العربي بشكل سافر "بشار بن برد والحسن بن هانيء" بجانب آخرين (والبة بن الحباب، حماد عجرد ... إلخ).

يعني شو؟ يعني مهاجمة العرب والدفاع عنهم موجود منذ ذلك الزمن (ألف سنة) على الأقل حتى لو لم يسمع بهذا "أحمد عرابي" أو "مصطفى كامل". ومن الأكيد أن العروبة موجودة كمذهب أيديولوجي بضعة سنين قبل "ثورة الشريف حسين"، فالتاريخ يقول أن "حركة بيروت السرية" كانت تلصق في الشوارع ليلاً قصيدة "ابراهيم اليازجي": "تنبهوا واستفيقوا أيها العرب" (راجع كتاب "نهضة العرب" لجورج أنطونيوس).
القومية العربية كمذهب سياسي من مواليد القرن التاسع عشر والقرن العشرين، ولكن هذا لا يعني بأن "العروبة" لم تكن موجودة في البلاد العربية في العصور السابقة. إنها موجودة منذ زمن بعيد في حديث الناس وأهازيجهم واشعارهم وأسمارهم ولياليهم وأفراحهم وأتراحهم فضلاً عن المدرسة وعن "دين الأغلبية". والمذهب السياسي الذي تنضد على هذا الوجود الطبيعي عبارة عن تحصيل حاصل ليس إلا. إنه مثل اكتشاف "الكهرباء" التي كانت موجودة منذ القدم ولما تكتشف حتى العصور الحديثة.

أخيراً، عود على بدء، لا أذكر أن هناك صوت واحد في "نادي الفكر"، منذ بداياته، حاول الدعوة إلى العروبة أو نحا نحواً شوفينياً (حتى ولا جمال الصباغ نفسه) بشكل منظم ممنهج. ولكن المصيبة في المدة الأخيرة أن هناك شرذمة "لا يعجبها العجب ولا الصيام في رجب". هذه الشرذمة تحاول سب وشتم كل ما هو عربي وإسلامي قبل أن يخرجوا علينا بانتماءات وهويات وتواريخ غريبة عجيبة، نصفها مات واندثر وأصبح نسياً منسياً، ونصفها الآخر لا تشتريه "بفلس مصدي" حتى لو أردت إكرام البائع. شرذمة غريبة عجيبة وجدت في الانترنت متنفساً لكبتها وعقدها النفسية فراحت تحذف 1400 سنة من تاريخنا وتعيدنا إلى عصور سحيقة كي تمطرنا بوابل من انتماءات ما أنزل الله بها من سلطان.
