طالب الروائيان السعوديان عبده خال وعبد الله ثابت هيئة الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر بالاعتذار الرسمي لما حدث في معرض الرياض الدولي للكتاب، وذلك بعدما قام أعضاء من الهيئة بأخذهما إلى مقرها في المعرض، وسؤالهما عن إلقاء التحية على الكاتبة حليمة مظفر، نقلا عن تقرير لصحيفة "الوطن" السعودية الجمعة 6-3-2009 للصحفي عضوان الأحمري.

ويرى خال أن ما قاما به لا يمثل توجه الرئيس الجديد الشيخ عبد العزيز الحمين، والذي قال إن العلاقة بين الهيئة والناس "علاقة حسن ظن".

ويصف الروائي عبد الله ثابت ما حدث قائلا: هل أصبحت يد المثقف عورة، ويد رجل الأمن ليست عورة؟ حينما أردنا توقيع الكتاب من الزميلة حليمة مظفر أمس الأربعاء قام أعضاء الهيئة بمنعنا من التوقيع. وقال رجل الأمن إنه سيقوم بذلك نيابة عنا، وأعطيناه الكتاب، وبعدها قلت للزميلة حليمة: شكرا حليمة، فناداني وقال لي: أنت ما تستحي.. بأي حق تلقي التحية هكذا. ثم بدأ بتوجيه كلمات غريبة قائلا: هل ترضى بأن يلقي أحد التحية على أختك؟.

ويتابع ثابت: "أخذ رجل الأمن النسخة الموقعة من يدي، واتصل بالمسؤول المباشر عنه في هيئة الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر، ويبدو أنه تلقى توجيها برد النسخة لي، ثم توجهنا أنا وعبده خال إلى مركز الهيئة مع الدكتور معجب الزهراني أيضا".

ويكمل خال ما بدأه ثابت قائلا: "يبدو أن العلاقة بين الهيئة والمثقفين استعداء وعداء، ولعل ذلك يتبين من خلال ما قاما به معنا بهذه الطريقة، ولا أدري ما هي العلاقة بين أصل الإنسان وعدم إلقاء التحية على امرأة، ولعل المضحك أن التهمة التي وجهتها الهيئة لنا كانت إلقاء التحية على امرأة أجنبية".

وطالب الروائيان السعوديان الهيئة بالاعتذار الرسمي، وعدم التدخل في الشؤون الثقافية، وأضافا "نطالب بالاعتذار، وما حدث لا يمثل وجهة نظر الرئيس الجديد الشيخ الحمين الذي طالب أعضاء الهيئة بإحسان الظن بالناس".
