ذات مرة كنت أركب المترو في واشنطن دي سي وشاهدت طالب يحمل كتب عربية واتضح لي إنه إسرائيلي يدرس اللغة العربية في جامعة جورج تاون فيما أذكر. من باب المجاملة أحببت أن أقول له إن اليهود لهم فضل على جميع الأديان وقلت كلمة "فضل" بالعربية فنظر لي باستغراب وضحك وقال بالانكليزية:

This is garbage.

صراحة احترمته. كان من الممكن أن تأخذه العزة بذاته أمام واحد عربي مثلي ويقول لي إنه هناك من فضل لليهود على الأديان ولا سيما أن المسيحية نابعة عقائديًا منها وكذلك الإسلام.

تساءلت: من أين دخلت هذه الكلمة السقيمة إلى قاموس مفرداتي وأفكاري؟ هذه كلمة توحي بعنجهية عربية من دون شك ولا يوجد لها استخدام في أي بلد من بلاد العالم سوى بلاد العرب حيث تسمع "فضل العرب على العجم" وأمثال هذا الكلام السقيم الذوق.

ومعك حق في أن كلمة Legacy هي ميراث وإرث الشعوب وكل شعب له رصيده التراثي ولا يوجد شعب بدون رصيد. لولا الهنود الحمر مثلا لما عرف الأمريكان نبات اسمه الذرة corn.

وأتفق معك قلبًا وقالبًا في هذه العبارة:
اقتباس:و تستخدم ايضا مصطلحات كcontribution و influence للدلالة على (الاسهام) الحضاري او القطري في امر ما, لكنك لا تجد احدا يستخدم كلمة تحمل في طياتها مطالبة بالاعتراف بالجميل و لا بالفضل ...

بالضبط: لكل شعب ولكل إنسان مساهماته وإسهاماته الإيجابية بشكل أو بآخر. لا مجال لتحميل الجمائل هنا.

تعجبني جدًا طريقة تفكيرك. واضح أنك صاحب عقل راجح وتزن الأمور وزن جيد وبقياس إنساني عالمي كزموبوليتاني.
