إن عودة النظام السوري إلى ملاحقة نشطاء حزب العمل الشيوعي فيه الكثير من علامات الاستفهام حول ذلك وتوقيته. إن إقدام النظام على اعتقال النساء وحرمانهم من عائلاتهم ليس بجديد وإنّ معاملة السجينات لأسباب سياسية في السجون السورية معاملة غير إنسانية يتعرضون فيها لمختلف أنواع التعذيب والحرمان من أبسط حقوق الإنسان والابتزاز والتحرش الجنسي لعقابهم والضغط عليهم للتوقف عن أي نشاط سياسي وذلك تحت ظلّ قانون الطوارئ المطبق منذ عام 1963.

في 07/02/2010 تم اعتقال طبيبة الأسنان الرفيقة تهامة معروف ولأسباب مجهولة في مدينة حلب وهي أمّ لطفلين وسجينة سابقة ،اعتقلت في 30/12/1992 وأُطلق سراحها في آذار مارس 1993 بسبب انتمائها لحزب العمل الشيوعي.

في 10/02/2010 تم اعتقال الرفيقة رغدة الحسن على الحدود اللبنانية ومداهمة منزلها في مدينة طرطوس وهي سجينة سابقة لمدة عامين 1993-1995 بسبب انتمائها لحزب العمل الشيوعي.

إن مكان حجزهم مازال مجهولاً ويتعرضون للتعذيب في ظروف السجن بدون أية شروط صحيّة أو إنسانية..إننا نندّد بشدّة بهذه الاعتقالات ونطالب السلطات السورية بإطلاق سراحهن وإغلاق ملف الاعتقال السياسي وقانون الطوارئ والأحكام العرفية الالتزام بالمعاهدات الدوليّة لحقوق الإنسان.

الجدير بالذكر أنّ السلطات السورية اعتقلت في فترات سابقة حوالي 2500 شخصاً من حزب العمل الشيوعي بينهم 125 امرأة
