or Apocalypse ( p k´ l ps) (KEY) , the last book of the New Testament. It was written c.A.D. 95 on Patmos Island off the coast of Asia Minor by an exile named John, in the wake of local persecution by the Emperor Domitian (A.D. 81–96). Tradition has identified John with the disciple St. John, but many scholars deny such authorship. They also disagree as to whether this book has common authorship with the Gospel or with First, Second, and Third John. The book is an apocalypse, comprising visions of victory over evil and persecution and of the triumph of God and the martyrs. Its structure is deliberate, depending heavily on patterns of sevens. It consists of letters counseling and warning seven churches in Asia Minor; the opening of the seven seals on the scroll in the hand of God, four revealing the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse; the blowing of seven trumpets by angels before God’s throne; the seven visions, including a seven-headed dragon (Satan) and the rising from the sea of the Beast, related to the Emperor Nero (persecutor of Christians in Rome after the great fire of A.D. 64), whose name is numerically equivalent to 666; the seven plagues; the seven-headed harlot named Babylon, representing the Roman Empire; and visions of heaven, the defeat of Satan, the judgment, the millennial reign of Christ, and the New Jerusalem. Constant allusion occurs to earlier scriptural prophecies, such as Ezekiel, Daniel, and Isaiah. One immediate goal of Revelation was to encourage persecuted Christians; absolute assurance of interpretation stops there. Every period of Christian history has produced variant explanations of the book’s mysteries.

كُتِبَ عام 95م في جزيرة باتموس.........، كتبه رجل في المنفى اسمه يوحناهذا السفر.

فسفر الرؤيا مشكوك فيه من الأقدمين والمحدثين ولا يعرف كاتبه. فكاتبه شخص مجهول زعم أنه رأى رؤيا وأراد منَّا أن نصدقه ونسى أن يعرفنا بنفسه أولًا. لذا من الخطأ الشديد الاستشهاد بسفر الرؤيا حاليًّا فضلا عن مناقشة ما جاء فيه.
ومع ذلك تعالوا نقرأ أول فقرة في السفر:

إِعْلاَنُ يَسُوعَ الْمَسِيحِ، الَّذِي أَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ اللهُ، لِيُرِيَ عَبِيدَهُ مَا لاَ بُدَّ أَنْ يَكُونَ عَنْ قَرِيبٍ، وَبَيَّنَهُ مُرْسِلاً بِيَدِ مَلاَكِهِ لِعَبْدِهِ يُوحَنَّا. (رؤ 1: 1)

فالمسيح هنا ليس هو الله. ونرى الله يعطي إعلانًا ليسوع المسيح. الله وليس الآب!!!

ومع ذلك لم يسلم هذا السفر من التحريف والتزوير. فالتعبير "أنا الألف والياء" له قصة.

تقول نسخة The NET BIBLE (رؤ 1: 8):

The reading “Omega” (w, w) has superior MS evidence (Í1 A C 1611 Byz) to the addition of “the beginning and the end” (ajrchV kaiV tevlo" or hJ ajrchV kaiV toV tevlo", arch kai telo" or Jh arch kai to telo"). There is no good reason why a scribe would have deleted the words, but their clarifying value and the fact that they harmonize with 21:6 indicate that they are a secondary addition to the text.

تريد النسخة أن تقول أن تعبير "الياء" Omega ليس في النص الأصلي وأنه إضافة ثانية دخلت على النص. أي أن عبارة "أنا الألف والياء" يكون أصلها "أنا الألف" لعدم وجود "الياء" في الأصل.

عبارة "أنا الأول والآخر" (رؤ 1: 11) تم حذفها بعد أن اكتشفوا أنها دخيلة على السفر.

العبارة:

I am the first and the last

تكتب في كثير من النسح بحروف صغيرة في إشارة إلى أنها لا يقصد منها الإشارة إلى ألوهية المسيح. والترجمة الصحيحة لها هي: "أنا أولًا وأخيرًا" ولكنهم يترجمونها إلى "أنا الأول والآخر" ليوهموك أن المسيح له نفس أسماء الله الحسنى. والتعبير شائع الاستخدام بهذا المعنى:

Ladies first; men last

السيدات أولًا، والرجال أخيرًا.
