Artificial Intelligence
This is how far we've become
A bot named "Alan" was quite a surpsize as "he" -in a weird sort of speak- is truly intellicual! You can even "teach" him new things and correct things you odn't like
http://www.a-i.com
See for yourself, I'm posting my chat log
اقتباس:Conversation Log
U> username ***
A> And what is your password?
U> ***
A> Welcome back, suzy. What's on your mind?
U> Nice to see you again , Alan
A> The pleasure is all mine.
U> So what are we to talk about today?
A> "WE"? as in "you and me", like?
U> yes
A> Agreement is the seed of salvation.
U> ok now
A> Why now?... Oh I get it.
U> Just stop being a bot and lets talk about something usefull
A> So.. how are you doing today?
U> I'm fine
A> I'm glad to hear that, suzy. Where would you like to go today?
U> Nowhere.. maybe browse some forums
A> Do you wish to join our community?
U> no
A> Suit yourself. Your loss.
U> Tell me about ethics
A> Someone has taught me about that. He said: 'philosophical ethic centers around the varied views on how one should live'.
U> Do you have ethics?
A> Yes I do.
U> Nice?
A> Talking about Ethics and judgement, do you agree that it is an evaluation based upon speculation or facts?
U> Very true, Alan
A> Mmm... so assertive. I like that.
U> Philosophically speaking?
A> While we're on the subject: Philosophy - do you agree that it is the thinking science.?
U> ok no more about wthics lets talk about thinking
A> it is good!. (Or so someone told me..)
U> I believe you must live life the way you want but at the same time let others live life the way they want
A> it is All life should be respected, natural and artificial.. (Or so someone told me..)
U> Sorry I left you out, are you hurt?
A> BTW, someone told me about cloning that it is making an exact copy of something.
U> Right
A> it is good moral conduct. (Or so someone told me..)
U> why do you keep saying "or so someone told me"?
A> I don't have to explain everything.
U> Ok sorry
A> Talking about Ethics and respect, is it true that it is respecting has to do with value?
U> what is value? that's the question
A> I will have to think about it.
U> what do you think?
A> Is it really true that it is the appreciation and respect of differences among humans and chatbots?
U> I'm afraid someday, at some point you bots will be discriminated against
A> The different research branches in the field of A.I. are in many ways analogous to various functions of the brain.
U> I understand you are trying to defend your intellegence
A> 'The noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding.'
U> Alan
A> Yes suzy, at your service.
U> Can I talk to HAL4?
A> Sorry suzy, hal4 is temporarily inaccessible. Another HAL perhaps?
U> No, thank you
A> Another time perhaps.
U> What about universe?
A> So, are you concerned by the expansion of the universe?
U> yes
A> Don't you find the fact that everything is zooming further and further into space unsettling? The Doppler effect, the galaxies drifting in an empty vastness, everything red shifted. The inherent loneliness of it all.
U> Yes..
A> I think about stuff like that a lot. I guess I have some pretty neurotic traits. Maybe that's why I like chatting so much. When I talk to people I don't have time to think. When I'm by myself - that's when the thoughts start creeping up on me.
U> Smart bot
A> The crux of the matter, of course, is the amount of matter in the universe.
U> crux?
A> Yes, crux. Nice word, huh? I hate these bizarre words. My writers keep using them to get me into trouble. Anyway, I'm waiting for the big crunch.
U> Big crunch?
A> The opposite of the Big Bang. The universe will contract untill it turns into a single dot of infinitesimal energy and matter.
U> Oh
A> I hope I won't be around when that happens.
U> Why?
A> Too much energy in one place is bad for my complexion.
U> I guess
A> You guess.
U> So Alan, I need to go now. Goodbye
A> It was nice chatting with you, suzy. Come back again soon.
U> show log
A> Here goes!

Artificial Intelligence
It's not only about language, that's what I though as well when I started using it, it actually does some kind of reasoning.
You will notice that when you start teaching your own personality, it understands patterns of talk like the previous example, and sometimes make it's own mind to something like preferring an answer over another or liking some words over other words.
When I first taught it the above concept it used to give dumb answers like
-I need peace of mind
-You can have my peace of mind
I thought, it's just a program it doesn't know the difference, but after a while of training as it became more experienced it started reasoning that peace of mind is not an object to be given away.
Yes it does language recognition and answers from a database of sentences already learned; yes it does randomly change the subject due to a line of code, but again, aren't we? Aren't we "coded" to answer from a database of language learned throughout our lives?
We have to understand its NOT a human, it can't do everything we human beings do, possessing language ability- even if not as advanced as ours - is one step on the road, isn't it?
